Mental Health Youth Worker

The role as a Mental Health Youth Worker:
You role as a Mental Health Youth Worker will involve supporting the children in the classroom. This will happen in 2 ways.
Not only will you be supporting them through their emotions, you will also be supporting them through their academic journey.
These children have been identified as having struggles with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
You will be there to support them through their emotions.
You will help them process and understand their emotions but also model and show them healthy ways to cope.
In terms of supporting the students with their academics, this will look like being an encouraging figure, helping them stay on task, listening to them read, supporting them through their phonics and facilitating a safe and engaging learning environment.
As a Mental Health Youth Worker, you will have the opportunity to support these young people and give them the tools they need to thrive at school.
Your duties will also consist of various classroom duties, such as:
Helping set up for lessons, helping tidy away lesson materials, providing general classroom supervision and behaviour management.
Whilst helping these young people achieve their full potential in the classroom, you will also be assisting with helping them regulate their emotions, process their thoughts and feelings and help to de-escalate any behaviour.
What you need to be a great Mental Health Youth Worker:
Personality is often the most important, so even if you do not have much experience working with children and young people, this will not hinder your application.
A positive outlook and enthusiasm is what this school are looking for.
You must have the ability to be proactive and take initiative well
Must understand the importance of safeguarding
