Akton are recruiting on behalf of a client who is recruiting for a Technical Compliance Manager to join the Urban Energy team in the UK on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a salary banding of £55,000 to £65,000 dependent on skills and experience, the role also includes a company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
The Technical Compliance Manager will focus on Gas, Oil & LPG combustion systems, flue systems, fuel oil and lubricating oil storage, DSEAR and Confined Spaces. It is a highly technical role, working within the Urban Energy (UE) Technical Team and reporting to the UE Technical Director.
The role is one of a subject matter expert (SME) in the named areas, and the primary function is to ensure technical compliance in high-risk work and systems across Operational and construction activity. The function will be delivered by ensuring systems are operated and worked on by competent staff and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- To manage the company's compliance & registration requirements ensuring the company complies with all internal and external statutory and good engineering practice requirements covering the following: Natural Gas, LPG, oil, and fuel storage, DSEAR and confined spaces.
- The technical compliance manager will play a key role in monitoring and assessing competency of others and putting in place any mentoring, training, and testing as required to ensure safety of people and systems.
- Assisting in the development of the company's maintenance management systems.
- Managing the Company's Technical Audit Process and assisting with conducting audits across the business to ensure engineering standards are implemented and maintained.
- Assisting with the mobilisation of new contracts.
- Ensure company procedures and standards as expressed in the Company Safety Systems are adhered to by all staff.
- Support to teams in their SME field during operational improvements, equipment or system change, input into design reviews and risk reduction and safety processes such as HAZID and HAZOP.
- Involved and sometimes leading incident investigations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or suitable technical HND, with required experience.
- Proven track record of technical engineering in a similar industry to district heating and cooling systems involved.
- Industrial & Commercial Hot water and steam boilers including ancillaries and distribution systems.
- Industrial chilled water and heat pump systems.
- CHP including gas engines.
- District Heating and Cooling systems
- Open cooling towers and adiabatic systems
