AWS are deploying operational technology at the heart of its business to solve complex technical challenges and to create opportunities for efficiency. Doing this brings together the worlds of IT, Operational Technology (OT), TCP/IP networks and the operational management of water and water recycling treatment centres. This technology convergence brings with it a host of cyber threats and the OT Security Analyst role will be responsible for all aspects of assessing and managing risk across the full lifecycle of an OT asset.

This role will be highly integrated within operational change projects and will therefore act as a bridge between the technical Data, Digital and Technology (DDaT) teams and the operational business. The role holder will be expected to have a fundamental understanding of the operational side of a water and sewerage company along with a solid understanding of the need for OT.

The role will provide risk assessment and remediation consulting, advice and reports whilst ensuring that AWG's OT is designed in line with developing best practice - notably IEC62443 and the NIS Regulation. The role will ensure that cyber risk is reduced to a level that matches the company's risk appetite and to ensure that individual activities do not exceed the company's risk tolerance.

The role holder will be expected to have an interest in the cyber risks associated with technology, enterprise IT, networking, specifically in the context of industrial sites and utilities.

The OT Security Analyst will lead security engagement sessions around the business to ensure that security responsibilities are understood by all those who can influence the security of OT. The role includes supporting the broader Anglian Water Business Group to deliver compliance activities relating to OT cyber security management standards.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Act as the interface for major programmes to the Cyber team to ensure that their designs are in line with our strategy and integrated to existing / planned technology and controls

    • Engage in Service Introduction & Change Acceptance Boards to ensure Cyber Security standard are followed.

    • Set & manage security expectations with change projects from requirement gathering through to design, build and handover.

    • Continually review OT policies and standards to ensure new technologies, and emerging risks have minimal impact on Anglian Water.

    • Engage with all internal stakeholders involved in the management of change to help ensure that adequate security controls are built into change projects

    • Perform risk assessments for projects, products and Grey-OT as well as against third party services

    • Make suitable recommendation in terms of accepting, mitigating or escalating risks to risk management boards.

    • Engage with technical field teams along with vendors to ensure that potential impacts, likelihood and the cost for mitigation of risks are understood

    • Maintain incident management policies and procedures for OT Cyber Security events.

    • Define and sponsor any additional exercise/training needs in alignment with Incident procedures.

As a valued employee you'll be entitled to:

    • Competitive pension scheme - Anglian Water double-matches your contributions up to 6%

    • Personal private health care

    • Annual bonus scheme

    • 26 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion

What does it take to be successful?

    • Experience of working within a technical role within a translatable industry sector (i.e. Utilities or Operators of Essential Services).

    • A proven technical skillset in a topic such as Telemetry Systems, Industrial Control, TCP/IP Networking, Cloud Computing, Windows Security (Active Directory/Operating System Hardening), Penetration Testing, SOC / SIEM Monitoring

    • Technical analysis and communications - the ability to describe and hold effective discussions with non-technical SME's to agree options which lead to the resolution of a technical problem

    • Excellent communicator both orally and in writing, articulating the story and why a proposed change is important
