Role Summary:
The role holder is responsible for the provision of specialist procurement knowledge and expertise, to deliver and develop a comprehensive, customer focused, integrated, cost effective and progressive sustainable procurement service: influencing the strategic direction of Procurement & Sustainability and the wider organisation agenda.
The role holder will utilise in-depth market intelligence to influence annual spend across Categories in the region of +£20 million to optimise competitive tension, leverage supplier relationships and deliver a complex portfolio of tendering activity.
Duties include:
- Specialist lead on the delivery and continuous development of an effective, flexible, and sustainable procurement service
- Decision making impacting on cross functional activities, creating guidance and training on sustainable procurement activities and associated policies and procedures
- Lead and direct the operational work flow of a multi-disciplined team, ensuring agreed targets and standards are consistently met
- Develop, motivate, and coach the team to deliver their best, providing feedback on performance
- Follow the appropriate financial and regulatory policies and procedures ensuring necessary regulations and standards are adhered to
- Create relationships with suppliers, customers, partners, and stakeholders, provide sustainable procurement information, advice and guidance and resolve complex issues through creative and unique solutions
- Proactively network with suppliers and customers to engender the effective sharing of knowledge, developing best practice and implementing initiatives that drive forward business improvements
- Manage priorities for sustainable procurement activities and associated cross functional projects, allocating resources and delegating tasks to support the strategic needs of the service
- Engage with cross-organisational teams and working groups to achieve joint objectives
- Design and develop processes, procedures and policies that support strategic business needs and maintain legal compliance, and deliver on the commitment to continuous improvement
- Research, interpret and analyse complex data, reports on key findings and advises on appropriate actions
Experience:
- Working in a Procurement function/environment
- People management
- Experience of procurement at an influential level in a medium/large complex organisation;
- Extensive experience in purchasing, procurement and supply procedures and processes, including sourcing, tendering, evaluation techniques
- Demonstrable experience of:
- Delivering tangible and sustainable savings in a medium/large complex organisation;
- Delivering organisational change;
- Experience of managing a multi-million pound/ complex tender activity;
- Experience of negotiating on Goods, Services or Works contracts;
- Experience of delivering Service Improvements and Efficiencies;
- Experience of presenting complex information to a variety of audiences;
- Experience of change management and implementing service improvements;
Package:
- Salary up to £52,000
