    Subcontract Buyer - Energy - Kentish Town

Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. As a Buyer you will works as part of a dedicated subcontract procurement team for the regional operating unit to develop the regional supply chain to suit the demand whilst providing market competitive procurement solutions for the operating unit which demonstrate best overall value for money

    Following the 'One Murphy' approach, we're able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. J. Murphy & Sons has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients such as National Grid, SSE and Ørsted, on both transmission and distribution networks within the Energy sector.

    What you will be doing:

    • Covering live construction projects through sound procurement practices
    • Implement an "added value" procurement strategy for each project
    • Provide forecast information by the set dates each month
    • Attend monthly meeting to discuss subcontractor forecast including any movements in the period and future risks
    • Continuous monitoring and improvement of the supply chain
    • Be the prime business unit contact for Group Procurement Function
    • Deliver a consistent procurement approach across all projects within the region from work winning / pre-construction stage
    • Demonstrate best overall value for money in the procurement recommendations
    • Ensure a robust negotiation process is applied in the engagement process.
    • Ensure contract arrangements and package details are comprehensive.

    Who are we looking for?

    • Proven experience within a Subcontract Buying role.
    • Experience within the Engineering or Construction industry
    • Experience within the Energy sector would be advantageous.
    • Subcontract packages experience.
    • CIPS qualified or working towards with significant work experience
    • MS package knowledge (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
