Painter and Decorator Salary - £22,500 JOB DESCRIPTION Primary objectives for the Decorator will be: To carry out a comprehensive programme of reactive and planned painting and decorating service to the facilities within the Staffordshire Moorlands and High Peak Contract To work as part of a team in providing high standards of maintenance and repair. The employee will focus day to day on the following tasks: Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces Providing decorative and faux finishes as the project requires Handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner Taping off areas as needed Choosing and purchasing paint, brushes, and other supplies from vendors Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete Communicating with colleagues and customers Maintain a professional appearance & maintain professional behavior while representing the company. To participate in appropriate training as provided and to be committed to continuous professional development in keeping with the Company's requirements. Any other reasonable duties as requested by the site Managers. The duties in this job description are not exhaustive and may be altered at any time to reflect the changing needs of the Charity. THE CANDIDATE Personal Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant: Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills Good working knowledge of painting and decorating Ability to manage a Painting Plan programme. Understanding of Colour theory and various finish types Ability to climb ladders Ability to carry heavy equipment (including painting tools and heavy buckets of paint Attention to detail Excellent Communication Skills Good Customer Service Skills Among the personal characteristics sought the applicant: Must be able to gain acceptance and respect from clients, contractors and any others involved. Must be able to build strong relationships with customers, clients and employees. Must be able to communicate at different levels of the organisation, both listen and direct. Must be self-motivated and work on your own initiative. Knowledge of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations. Must be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required.
