Bring us the insight we need to tackle crime

Keeping some 8 million Londoners safe isn't just a job for the front line. Our Strategic Insight Unit (SIU) combines advanced data analytics and social research skills with expertise in operational policing and the strategic landscape to deliver valuable empirical insight. It's your chance to tackle issues that affect millions.

Our small multi-disciplinary team works via three main routes: examining patterns in police data to understand what is happening and why; drawing from applied criminology and behavioural economics to apply relevant insights; and working with MPS and external experts to co-design and deliver evaluations.

As a Senior Analyst in SIU, you'll identify, develop and deliver a programme of research and analysis that will produce relevant and insightful analysis to support areas of strategic importance to the MPS. It will see you act as the bridge between SIU and the relevant senior operational leads and their teams, and work with senior leads to identify research gaps.

This is your opportunity to support and promote the importance of evidence and insight-based policing, which will help to shape how policing in London operates in the future. To succeed, you'll need a degree or masters level qualification or equivalent in statistics, economics, quantitative analysis, social sciences, or a relevant field.

You should also be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and be familiar with empirical research methods, including experimental and quasi-experimental methodologies. In addition, your leadership skills will come into their own as you design, shape and drive a programme of research and deliver tangible insights.

There's a great deal to look forward to in return. As well as opportunities to grow and learn, you'll enjoy benefits including substantial annual leave, Civil Service pension arrangements, interest free season ticket loans, flexible working conditions and more.

Are you looking for a new challenge and want to join an innovative and rapidly growing team? Do you have a passion for analysis and exploring new ways to tackle thorny issues that affect millions of people? If so, we want to hear from you.
