Start date: 7th August 2023 (preferred)
The College
Oxford International College Brighton is an international day and boarding school opening in Ovingdean, Brighton in September 2023. For the right candidate, this is an exciting and highly rewarding opportunity to lead and develop a new College, shaping its academic trajectory within Nord Anglia's world-class international network of schools. The College's curriculum will be based on the proven success of Oxford International College's three-pronged curriculum model which has led to outstanding academic outcomes; OIC Brighton intends to join OIC Oxford at the top of the UK league tables, preparing our leavers for the most competitive courses at the world's best universities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the College's opening phase and strategic direction, both in terms of increasing pupil numbers and developing a world-class curriculum.
The Role
OIC Brighton's Global Strategic Pathways model aims to prepare all pupils for top university destinations whilst ensuring the highest levels of personal development. Academic staff will fulfil an important role in ensuring these outcomes, contributing to the development of their subject across the College and to the College's Super Curriculum programme encompassing personal development, careers guidance and preparation and academic support and extension.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible, creative approach to their subject, looking to support students' academic aims and to develop the provision across the College. Academic staff are likely to have tutoring responsibilities and will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the College through clubs, activities and supervision duties.
Teaching class sizes will be small and taught in purpose-built, modern facilities. OIC Brighton will attract high-achieving and ambitious students from across the world including local day students. In year 1, entry will be at Year 9, Year 10 (GCSE), Year 11 (intensive 1 year GCSE) and Year 12 (AS and A Level). The culture of the College is one of high expectations, with a Collegiate feel achieved through a relatively informal uniform and the use of teachers' and students' first names. The teaching week includes Saturdays during term time.
