    PRIVATE CLIENT TAX DIRECTOR (PARTNER TRACK)

    Our client is looking for a Private Client Tax Director with substantial non-domicile and residency planning experience to join their team in advising their HNW and UHNW clients, with track to Equity Partner mapped out from day one.

    The firm represents a number of very wealthy families from around the world who have touch points in the UK, as well as representing a number of family offices who are based in the UK.

    This is primarily an advisory based so the individual will need to demonstrate excellent communication and written skills.

    Above all, our client is looking for candidates who have the right attitude to build strong relationships with a number of wealthy clients with interesting affairs; providing a personal yet professional service, and a willingness to progress to Partner within a 2-3 year time frame.

    The role is a varied one but will suit someone with an interest in residence and remittance planning, offshore restructuring for non-domiciliaries, and advising family businesses.

    This is a Partner-track role with the outgoing Private Client Tax Partner looking to retire within 2-3 years. The aim would be for the successful candidate to fill these shoes within that time frame.

    The ideal candidate will be CTA qualified with 10+ years' experience working in a private client tax team and have comprehensive and demonstrable experience of providing complex offshore tax planning advice.

    The firm is currently in a stage of very high growth and the tax team could be molded and shaped around the successful candidate. They have set out a road map to annual profit of £10m to be achieved in the near term with the level of equity partnership interest to be negotiated.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Initially working closely with and reporting directly to the Private Client Tax Partner to deliver tax planning to UHNW and HNW individuals.
    • Frequently attending webinars to keep up to date on often complex tax planning strategies for UK resident/ non-dom and non-UK resident/non-dom individuals.
    • Researching and delivering tax technical advice and communicating tax planning strategies to clients in a clear and concise manor.
    • Growing the Tax Team to five people by 2024 and overseeing and leading the team.
    • Meeting and regularly communicating with clients and their representatives (both face to face and by phone and e-mail) with regard to their objectives and the implementation of appropriate tax planning strategies. Building strong and successful client relationships; providing expert, timely and comprehensive advice.
    • Working successfully with other Managers and Partners across the firm to ensure that strategies are implemented with regard to their overall affairs.
    • Overseeing the scheduling and workflows on each of the jobs - ensuring all deadlines and targets are met.
    • Providing technical tax support to other Partners and colleagues in the firm.
    • Prepare fee proposals for work
    • Liaising with, handling, and taking part in meetings with HM Revenue & Customs and other third parties, such as solicitors, and barristers regarding a client's affairs.

    Requirements

    • Desire and capability to progress to Partner in a relatively short period of time.
    • Technical knowledge and experience in providing tax planning advice to a range of individuals. Experience of providing advice to HNW and UHNW a bonus.
    • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
    • Desire for continued learning and ability to demonstrate strong technical and commercial awareness.
    • Excellent work ethic and desire to provide a superior client service.
    • Confident, highly motivated, and sociable character with ability to build rapport with people at all levels.
    • CTA qualified (any of ACCA/ACA/STEP a bonus but not essential)
