The starting salary for this position is £43,923 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.

The role is a one-year fixed term contract based at Quadrant Court in Woking. Travel to schools across Surrey will be a key element of this role so access to a car and a full driving licence is essential. We are an agile team and work is undertaken remotely with a whole team day every Thursday at our office base.

    Who are we?

The Learners Single Point of Access (L-SPA) is evolving into an important element of our graduated response offer for children and young people with SEND. We are increasingly focussed on building a culture of support and challenge which will enable families, schools, and our partners to access information, advice, and support in a timely and responsive way.

Our aim is that children and young people with SEND can feel safe, supported and thrive in education settings in their own community.

As part of our new and enhanced offer we are now looking for two SEND Support Advisors join the team. We would love to see applications from people who share our passion for inclusion, child centred approaches and sharing best practice.

    Your role

In this role you will sit within the L-SPA Multi-Disciplinary Team, adding value through your knowledge and expertise related to education practice. You will have an assigned area of Surrey mirroring our quadrant footprint and will be expected to develop or build on local knowledge including the impact of demographic and social indicators that may influence the identification of SEND and drive requests for EHC Needs Assessments.

You will have opportunities to work closely with colleagues in Surrey Education Support Services and those delivering our Team Around the School approach as part of a system wide delivery of intervention and prevention for SEND. You will feel comfortable offering challenge and support in equal measures to professional peers with a view to drive up standards and offer practical help and advice in times of difficulty.

    You will champion our

    • local offer
    • education support services
    • new ordinarily available provision core offer
    • new provision map guidance

and also support our schools and education providers to implement the graduated approach through professional peer to peer support.

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your CV and personal statement will need to evidence the following:

    • You have qualified teacher status and achieved your National Award for SENCO qualification
    • Currently working or have worked in an education setting which demonstrates excellence in its SEN Support practice
    • A genuine desire to deliver the best outcomes for children and young people
    • Innovative, solution focussed and able to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Confident in challenging inadequate practice and upholding the thresholds for EHC Needs Assessments

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 15/10/2023 with interviews will follow.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
