We have an exciting locum opportunity for a Finance Business Partner with UK experience to join our team.


    Pay rate (Assignment rate): £41.45 per hour

    Contract Length: 3-Months


    • Act as a Finance Business Partner for a defined service within Housing Management, providing high level financial advice and support to the Assistant Director and their Heads of Service
    • Ensuring the requirements of the financial strategy are met
    • Ensuring adherence to corporate processes and timescales
    • Ensuring timescales are achieved
    • Accounting standards are observed
    • Budget monitoring and forecasting
    • Enabling budget managers to provide year end forecasts which are accurate and robust
    • Undertaking high level checks of forecasts, challenging budget holders where appropriate
    • Early identification of budget risks and potential savings
    • Identifying mitigating actions to address budget pressures
    • Adherence to the financial regulations and standing orders
    • Support budget holders in making appropriate use of SAP for monitoring and forecasting purposes
    • Provide financial reports for departmental meetings as required
    • Draft the financial implications for reports to members and directors
    • Provide specialist technical advice relating to their areas of responsibility
    • Undertake financial appraisals of planned service changes, identifying any significant financial implications
    • Provide advice and support regarding the financial aspects of local systems
    • Ensure processes and procedures are robust, confirm to best professional practice and provide value for money
    • Evaluate legislative and policy changes and assess the financial impact on the service
    • Identify the training needs of the service regarding financial management
    • Ensure relevant government returns and grant claims are completed
    • Have management responsibility for staff
    • Deputise for the Head of Housing Finance as required and provide cover in the absence of the other Housing Business Partners
    • Undertake any other duties in line with the general level of responsibility of the post

    Requirements for the Finance Business Partner role:

    • CCAB qualification
    • Substantial experience of management accounting and finance business partnering within local government, ideally including the housing revenue account
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent analytical and IT skills
    • Experience of working with substantial budgets
    • Experience of managing complex financial issues in an environment of change
    • Ability to challenge and question the way things are done
    • Experience of producing reports on complex matters
    • Good understanding of Local Government finance
