    Role: Oracle Database Administrator

    Location: Homebased

    Salary: up to £55k DOE (35 hours a week Mon-Fri)

    Summary:

    Our client is one of the UK's biggest metering and data services company and they are looking for an Oracle Database Administrator. The role will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of their Oracle database platform. This includes the planning, upgrade and development of the databases including management of backups and failover systems whilst providing advice and troubleshooting issues on behalf of users. The successful candidate will have knowledge of computer networks and protocols with an understanding of business and compliance processes.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Monitor database systems to ensure environments are stable and available
    • Perform maintenance operations on Oracle databases to ensure efficient database operations
    • Backups, migrations and restorations of Oracle databases, including Oracle Forms applications
    • Recover corrupted or lost data in test and production systems from backups
    • Develop, manage and test database and IS backups and recovery plans, ensuring written processes are in place
    • Analyse/manage capacity & performance of Oracle application databases, liaising with application developers
    • Promote / maintain data security and compliance for Oracle databases to meet compliance
    • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies that support data applications
    • Maintenance of operational systems may be required out of normal business hours

    Skills and experience required:

    • Professional qualification or degree, + 2+ years experience of administering Oracle databases
    • Experience in Oracle Standard / Enterprise, preferably Oracle Forms
    • WebLogic or Fusion Middleware experience preferred but not essential
    • Knowledge of computer networks / protocols, including Windows & Linux operating systems
    • An understanding of business and compliance processes
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
    • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing to a range of audiences
    • Ability to operate effectively / systematically under pressure in recovery and failover scenarios
    • Organised and able to prioritise and plan own work to deliver to agreed standards
