Howdens are recruiting Electrical Controls Technicians to join our team at our manufacturing site in Runcorn, Cheshire. As an Electrical Controls Technician, you will provide round-the clock technical support to the maintenance and operations teams and use your knowledge of machine control system technologies and electrical engineering to get to root-cause of problems to develop solutions to engineer them out. What you will be doing: Working as part of a team developing and implementing continuous improvement projects to deliver gains in manufacturing safety, quality, productivity and efficiency Assisting with the training, coaching and development of the site engineering team Delivering health and safety objectives and ensure site procedures strictly followed by the team in line with site standards. Prompting diagnosis of complex machine faults and control system errors, minimising machine downtime utilising all available resources Analysing machine downtime trends, failure modes, root causes, and develop permanent countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence Collaborating with group IT to ensure continuity on supporting IT/Automation topology, optimising performance of equipment What we are looking for: A time served Electrical Engineer or Automation / Controls Apprenticeship Experience working within an FMCG environment Ability to fault find and implement program modifications on a range of PLCs including S7 TIA, Beckhoff TwinCat or Schneider PL7 Knowledge of parameterisation and commissioning of servo drives and inverters Experience of fault-finding on industrial communication networks including CanBus, Industrial Ethernet, ProfiBUS, AS-I etc Experience of designing and modifying control circuits and program logic Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Ability to adapt tothe changing demands of the business What we can offer you: Competitive salary and annual company bonus (10%) Excellent pension scheme (company contribution of up to 12%) 25 days holiday + bank holidays with the option to buy additional days Free daily lunch at our onsite canteen Staff discount Exceptional reward and recognition events You will work as part of team on a 3-shift rotation alongside the shift maintenance and operations teams working across a 6-2/10-6/2-10 pattern.
